Progressive Entertainment was founded in 2000 by Tyler Mervyn. Prior to
entering the music scene, Tyler worked as a flight instructor, cargo and charter pilot
due to his formal education that was focused in Aviation. In 1998, Tyler was hired
to work as co-producer and talent coordinator for Summerlove, the largest and longest
running electronic music festival in Western Canada. He also worked as the Sales Manager
for "The G Spot 96.1 fm". In 2000, Tyler founded Progressive Entertainment and started
managing a number of up and coming Canadian DJs, including DJ Jeffree and DJ Kevin Shiu.
Together the next step was entrenching Progressive Entertainment as one of the premier
promotions companies on the West Coast. Through working in both the underground and
corporate worlds, Progressive Entertainment’s reputation as a professional dynamic
entertainment company reached new levels of success.
In June of 2002, Progressive Entertainment launched Volume Thursdays @ The Lotus Sound
Lounge in Vancouver - a platform in which to showcase Progressive Entertainment's DJs.
Volume was Vancouver's only truly progressive club night in the lower mainland’s only
underground club. Volume featured the top Progressive House, Tribal House and Trance
on the West Coast and fought hard to become the only Progressive club night in Vancouver.
In July 2003, the city changed its liquor laws to allow a 4:00am shut down on the weekends,
which is when Vancouver joined Montreal to become the second city in Canada where you
can party late into the night. Also during this time, Volume moved to Fridays, allowing
the residents to extend the Volume Experience all night long and thus boost Volume to
become the busiest night in the city and one of the top club nights in the country.
Volume has brought in such well-known names as Jimmy Van M, Aldrin, Medway, Chris Fortier,
Josh Wink, Taylor and Deko-ze.
Progressive Entertainment has worked with a number of the top entertainment companies
in North America on massive corporate contracts including; Spundae, Livestar and Vision
Group. In 2003, Clear Channel Entertainment, the world's largest promotions company,
hired Progressive Entertainment to act as the Electronic Consultant and Booking Agent
for the Du Maurier sponsored "Red Door" Night Club program. This program showcased the
world's best DJs with cross Canada tours.

In October 2004, Volume evolved into FOCUS, a new name, a new night with fresh residents
and still world class progressive house and unmatched vibe. The Focus crowd has been called
one of the top club crowds in the world by some of its international guests including Chris
Fortier, Desyn Masiello and Luke Fair. Focus has outlasted all competition and has become
the top Progressive club night in Vancouver and remains one of the top club nights in Canada.
In June 2006 a new chapter begins for Focus with our move to The Gecko Club. A larger,
cleaner venue with even more potential.
Progressive Entertainment specializes in club promotions, large event promotions and
management, DJ bookings, artist management and tour management of world class DJs. The
focus is on expanding the progressive dance music scene on a global level. Progressive
Entertainment strives to build artist exposure across Canada and around the world,
pushing the boundaries of music that is underground and at the forefront of what is yet
to come.
